Port-a-Bach Prototype
William Giesen worked as Architect and Co-director at Atelierworkshop when he co-designed and produced the Port-a-Bach prototype. The prototype was built in Hangzhou, China and shipped to New Zealand. It was purchased by Puke Ariki Museum, New Plymouth, as a central piece in their exhibition Cottage to Cutting Edge: Prefabricated Homes in New Zealand.
The Port-a-Bach was conceived as an affordable holiday home that was transportable, portable and secure with a high-level finish, designed to be environmentally sustainable. The Project was widely published in New Zealand and internationally in magazines and books including Condé Nast Traveler and Vogue Taiwan.
